2007 Annual Easter Egg Hunt & Party |
||
|
The IAM&AW Local Lodge 822 held their annual Easter Egg Hunt & Party on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at their lodge hall and grounds at 2929 North 5th Street, Quincy, Illinois. Although there was a big chance for rain for our party, thankfully it only sprinkled and the kids didn’t mind hunting eggs in the wet grass. This event is sponsored by the Machinists Lodge 822 and they invite all other local unions to participate in this annual event. All union’s members’ children and grandchildren are invited, as well as the underprivileged and handicapped children in the area.
This year’s event had 133 children attending, ages one through twelve. They all hunted eggs and waited patiently for their number to be called to win one of the valuable gift certificates to various stores and restaurants in the area. Also twelve filled Easter baskets were given away. The gift certificates ranged from $5.00 to $50.00. These certificates were purchased with donated monies from Lodge 822 and other local unions and local business in Quincy. Also some local business in Quincy sent certificates for free items to their place of business that are placed in the eggs with candy. At the end of the party each child is given a sack with candy and miscellaneous items in them.
A special visitor, Krissie the Easter Bunny was on hand to greet the children and to have their picture taken with her. Some children are scared and back away while others immediately go up to the Easter Bunny and wait for their turn for a hug or a high five and of course a sucker. Krissie the Easter Bunny stayed around and handed out the gift certificates and Easter baskets.
All the children had a great time and they always look forward to our next years hunt and party.
A total amount of $1835.00 was received in donations this year and that amount was spent on the event. The 2007 Contributors are as follows:
