2008 Annual Easter Egg Hunt & Party
The IAM&AW Local Lodge 822 held their annual Easter Egg Hunt & Party on
Saturday, March 15, 2008 in the lodge hall at 2929 North 5th Street,
Quincy, Illinois. This year all festivities had to be held inside due to
rain and snow. The children didn’t mind they still got their quota of
eggs filled with lots of candy, handed to them in their sacks This event
is sponsored by the Machinists Lodge 822 and they invite all other local
unions to participate in this annual event. All union’s members’
children and grandchildren are invited, as well as the underprivileged
and handicapped children in the area.
This year’s event had 158 children attending, ages one through twelve.
They all waited patiently for their number to be called to win one of
the valuable gift certificates to various stores and restaurants in the
area, or one of the twelve filled Easter baskets. The gift certificates
ranged from $10.00 to $50.00, totally this year of $1440.00. These
certificates were purchased with donated monies from Lodge 822 and other
local unions and local business in Quincy. Also Scotties Skateland sent
coupons for free skating, Subway Restaurant sent free kid gift pack
coupons. At the end of the party each child was given a sack with candy
with coupons in them.
A special visitor, Krissie the Easter Bunny was on hand to greet the
children and to have their picture taken with her. Some children are
scared and back away while others immediately go up to the Easter Bunny
and wait for their turn for a hug or a high five.
All the children had a great time and they always look forward to our
next years hunt and party, some asking what the date is for our next
years event, before leaving the building.
A total amount of $1895.00 was received in donations this year and that
amount was spent on the event. The 2008 Easter party Contributors are as
